Automattic is more advanced in remote work than other companies because we are entirely dispersed. When it comes to Scaling Remote Teams, they are all remote employees and therefore it equalizes the playing field. Work-at-home individuals do not lose the opportunity to experience some form of real life interaction that can only be provided by a central office. As we vibe at a company get-together or a WordCamp event, we have some of us occasionally through the San Francisco office on a luxurious occasion, but that is the exception. Our culture is created on the premise of being a group of remote workers spread all over the world. This is how we communicate and interact because it is based upon this premise.
